Scheer IMC and E.ON's CS Universe-ity programme is recognised in the “Best Learning Strategy” category

Saarbrücken, August 2026

E.ON and Scheer IMC received a Bronze award in the “Best Learning Strategy” category at the 2026 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards. The award recognises the CS Universe-ity, an international learning ecosystem that brings together strategic knowledge, cultural transformation, and employee empowerment, and highlights the joint approach to establishing learning as a strategic driver of transformation within Customer Solutions.

Learning as a strategic driver of transformation

E.ON operates in an energy market that is continually evolving due to regulatory changes, technological developments, and rising customer expectations. Employees need to understand strategic connections quickly and apply new knowledge directly in their day-to-day work.

Before the project began, learning was strongly decentralised and shaped by local requirements. Valuable learning initiatives already existed across individual countries and business units. However, there was no overarching approach that consistently connected these activities with the strategic objectives of Customer Solutions.

With the CS Universe-ity, E.ON repositioned learning within the organisation. Fragmented individual initiatives were replaced by a scalable learning ecosystem that provides direction, supports international knowledge exchange, and empowers employees to play an active role in the company’s transformation.

A shared learning journey across eleven countries

The CS Universe-ity is delivered through MyGenius, E.ON’s digital learning platform. It provides employees with central access to learning channels, courses, videos, live sessions, and collaborative formats. Its modular and multilingual learning architecture enables content to be rolled out consistently across international markets while also being adapted to local requirements.

Scheer IMC supported E.ON in developing the learning architecture as well as the digital learning formats and relevant content. Complex strategic topics were translated into clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences.

The result is a learning journey that doesn't just transfer knowledge, but that also connects strategic objectives and cultural development with the everyday work of employees.

Co-creation as a key success factor

A central element of the project was its co-creation approach. While the strategic direction was defined centrally, HR teams, specialist departments, local entities, and employees actively contributed to the development of the content and formats.

This made it possible to incorporate different perspectives and create learning opportunities that are directly relevant to their respective target groups. At the same time, shared standards ensured consistent quality across countries and business units.

Managers also assumed an important role: as learning ambassadors, they create space for professional development, promote knowledge transfer within their teams, and help embed learning permanently into everyday work. Communities of practice further strengthen cross-border collaboration and make internal knowledge continuously accessible.

High participation and measurable impact

The CS Universe-ity achieved a strong reach at an early stage. A total of 43,000 active users are registered on the learning platform. Within the target group, 12,000 of approximately 20,000 employees participated. Despite participation being voluntary, this represents a participation rate of nearly 60 per cent.

Learner satisfaction also exceeded expectations. More than 6,000 ratings produced an average score of 4.2 out of 5, compared to the original target of 3.5.

However, the value of the CS Universe-ity extends beyond reach and ratings. It strengthens the shared understanding of strategy and market dynamics, promotes collaboration across national borders, and helps employees apply learning content in their day-to-day work.

Recognition for a sustainable learning strategy

The Bronze award at the Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards confirms the strategic and sustainable approach behind the project. The awards recognise programmes that demonstrate a clear alignment with business requirements, effective implementation, and measurable results.

Through the CS Universe-ity, E.ON, and Scheer IMC have created a foundation for embedding learning as a long-term element of organisational transformation. The learning ecosystem will continue to evolve through new strategic content, greater personalisation, additional data-driven insights, and an even closer connection between learning and business processes.
